Antique centre tables - a Victorian example
Antique furniture sometimes can be common things, that we see daily. So i wanted to talk about the antique centre tables. Centre tables are now widely used for almost any table built to stand freely in the center of the living-room. Unlike pieces made for positioning against walls with have one side plain and undecorated, an antique table of these will look the same from all sides right down to having either two sets of opposing frieze drawers or one real set and a dummy set.
The most elaborated centre tables were intended for use in large halls as the Victorian walnut occasional centre table. This is a typical late Victorian octagonal top centre antique table, that has carverd flower-heads on the legs (pattern used on antique furniture of the 1870, so can be classiffied as Aesthetic style). Antique tables such as this are fairly common and are often ebonized, and the flower-heads are often gilded. This is a nice antique piece that worth its value.
