Antique Guns: Colt 1836 Paterson (Model No. 5)

Specific details: This is the first antique cylinder revolver designed and built by Colt in the Patent Arms Manufacturing Company in Paterson, New Jersey from 1836 to 1842. The Colt Paterson was built both with and without a loading cylinder and the guardles trigger is rotated out of the frame when the hammer is cocked. Some of 2500 of these antique revolvers were built before the company went bankrupt in 1843. Related models are the Pocket Model or the Baby Paterson in .28, .31 and .34 calibres and the Holster Model in a .36 calibre, made from 1836 to 1841. The company Hege-Uberti builds high-quality replicas in a .36 calibre of these antique guns.
