Antique Windsor chairs

Today we are going to talk about an antique style chair known since 1720, and first  found in coffee houses  and antique taverns in the state of Georgia, USA. One of the main things of this antique chair are the cavriole legs and the hopped back (introducer in 1740). The wheel splat was introduced around 1790.

Antique gothic Windsor chairs are recognized by the carving of their splats and their pointed archs backs. The better woods is elm, yew and mahogany. Carved and well proportioned backs and curved stretchers are to the value of these antiques.
