Collectible pocket watches

Collectible pocket watches are seldom worn today, as men tend not to wear waistcoats, and so currently represent god value. Although the earliest examples are over $1.700, it is possible to buy excellent classic 18th-century silver pair-cased verge watches, late 18th- and 19th-century English, American and Continental lever and cylinder watches, all under $1.700.

Themed collections may include, among others, movement types, mechanical complexity, case styles, makers or hallmarks. Look for condition of casework and dial, originality of hands and working condition. Damage, other than fair wear and tear, seriously detracts from the price.

In my opinion pocket watches are  one of the most interesting collectibles.
